Hi, my name is Charlie, and if you're here with me listening to my very first podcast, then welcome. I'm so happy you are here. You're starting with me from the very beginning of my podcast journey. I'm a mom to five beautiful, tiny humans, and talking to you from my very self most studio, my dining room table. It doesn't get more momlike than that really does it. I remember as a little girl, like many of us thinking when I grow up, I'm going to do things this way and that way, not how my parents do. I won't tell my kids off. And my mom said to me back then that there will be things when I grow up and become a mom that I will carry on from my upbringing. And there are things that I won't, it couldn't be truer. Our childhood is the basis on which we grow as adults and as parents. Whether we liked our childhood or not, I had and still have so many wants, dreams and aspirations for my life. But to this day, the single most wonderful thing in my life, my greatest achievement is being a mom. When I first became a mom over a decade ago, I wouldn't say I was clueless, but I don't think anything can fully prepare you for motherhood and a mix of emotions, multitasking on no sleep and hormones to start with, let alone having to learn to do things really quickly, like breastfeeding to formula, making decisions about vitamin K, baby names, and my goodness, the paperwork after having a baby. I have three boys and two girls ages ranging from 11 to two years old, and I really have seen and experienced it all over the past 11 years, and now it's time for me to pass everything I've experienced and learned onto you. In this podcast, you can join me in conversations on what it's like being the first time mom. Visitors after birth conversations we forget to have before the baby comes. The loneliness that comes with motherhood sleep or lack of baby led weaning, potty training, tantrums, relationships with your kids, and between siblings, even when the relationship disconnects. All topics I give full step-by-step guidance on in my courses on Charlie's parenting pages. But here, let's talk about it together. I'll be doing episodes, just us and also some exciting guests lined up to teach us all a thing or two and share their experiences so much. I'm really excited to share with you to end this episode on an interesting thought that I saw on a reel that my brother sent me recently. Oprah was interviewing someone and she asked him what is the biggest mistake that parents make? And he said, the biggest mistake that parents make is not remembering their childhood. He said that he thinks the best thing we can do is know what it was like for us, and then know and understand what our children are going through. It really spoke to me because I dunno about you, but I remember certain things and situations how I felt as a child, and I can only hope that when my children feel those feelings, that they feel the comforts and safety of knowing that I've got them and that I understand them completely. I'm really looking forward to helping you thrive in the most rewarding journey of your life, being a mom.
