Hey, you are here. Welcome back to Chat with Charlie on Mom Matters podcast. If you're here, maybe you've got a baby sleeping on you, a toddler pulling at your leg, or listening in the car. Just trying to breathe for a minute. I have been there and I get it. I know how that feels. Today we're talking about the magic of being a mom. I'm not talking about all the sparkly magic, the make-believe magic. I'm talking about real magic. Magic that we don't always realize that is there and I know that sometimes motherhood just doesn't feel magical at all. Some days it feels heavy. It feels exhausting and you feel completely invisible. Today isn't about pretending that motherhood is perfect. It's about remembering the magic that exists even on the messy days, especially on the messy days. So what do we mean by the magic of motherhood? And I think it's so important to understand this magic because it's within every single one of us. I don't mean the Instagram reels of how everyone thinks that they should be. It's the quiet, unseen, relentless love that you have for your children. Those moments that actually no one sees the moments that make you feel magical inside, It is the unseen magic. That is the real magic, the kind of magic that keeps you going when you are running on empty. The kind of magic when your day has literally tipped you over the edge and you feel like no one in the world understands what you are going through, but you see that beautiful baby, that beautiful child, and you feel the magic, the reason why you are doing it or why you are showing up. Every single day as mothers, we have that mother instinct. That is, to me, the superpower beyond all superpowers. That instinct to know your child like nobody else knows your child. That instinct to know that cry, what type of cry it is, whether they're upset, whether they're just winging a little bit, whether they need you, whether they're trying to self-soothe. This is something that only a mother's magic can know. The magic of holding everything together behind the scenes, Making sure your family are all okay, and sometimes forgetting about yourself, and something that I hold very, very close to my heart. Something that I don't think enough moms take credit for is being the safe place for your child. We look at all these material things, all these people that we look up to on social media that we think have everything together, but what your child needs most is to feel loved and to feel safe. And that is magic that only you hold for your child. Nobody else can make your child feel as safe and as loved as you can as their mom. So the magic of being a mom isn't loud, is not something that is outwardly seen all the time. It's actually often something that is felt. And even when you feel like you are drowning and you're not being seen or you're not being heard, you are still the most magical thing to your child in their life. It doesn't get applause. But it is super, super powerful. I notice the most with my children when they had a bad debt at school, and all they want to do is for you to hold them so tightly the thing that I love, the magic that I love the most is that you have the power to make them feel like everything is okay, even when it might not be okay. And your child feels that they are completely protected from the world because you are the magic that surrounds them. And that is so strong and so powerful in my own motherhood journey. And I wanna pass that on to you so that you can understand the power and the love and the magic that you give to your child on a daily basis. you don't even realize how much magic you put into your child's, your babies, your children's life on a daily basis. Think about the mental load of being a mom, of being you, the appointments that you arrange, the meals that you organize, the school, the birthdays, the routines for your baby. All the things that you put in place for your child so that they have the best day, the best routine, the best life, and all that is done by you. The emotional regulation that you do for yourself and your children that make sure that you and your family are okay. You should be so proud of yourself that you are able to regulate or try to regulate everyone's emotions so that everybody's feeling okay on a day-to-day basis. And sometimes those days are not okay, but you are still there to keep the balance for yourself, for your child, your children, and your whole entire family. something that always makes me laugh actually, the logistics of being a mom, like it's not easy at all. The laundry every day, making sure the house is tidy, making sure everyone's got clean clothes, that the food's in the cupboard that you made, that Tesco order this week so that you're not running out of everything. Logistics is a huge part of motherhood that can be completely missed by people All these things are not noticed unless you miss something, and that's the thing that makes me laugh. Some things. In motherhood are so hidden until we slip up, but we are the solid glue that holds everything together, and that to me is just incredible magic right there. As moms, we do this thing where we carry the guilt of a mom, which I will come to in another podcast because I think that's a podcast on its own. It's something that, as a mom, I think we feel from the moment that we find out that we're pregnant. We feel guilty. It's just built within us. And that's only because you want to be the best version of yourself for your children. And we put this insane amount of pressure on ourselves. A mom that is worried that she's not showing up enough. A mom that is worried that she's not showing enough love that she's not made the right meal, that she's not reaching the milestones for her baby at the right time, is a mom that cares. And it's not something that you should feel guilty about, We do that because the love that we have for our children is more powerful and more magical than any other feeling in the world. And if that's you listening to this right now, then just take a look in the mirror at yourself at everything that you do for your family. Remember if motherhood came with a payslip it would be one of the most demanding roles there is. Let that land properly. Motherhood is the single most hardest draining job there is, and we do it out of love. I have worked full-time, I have worked part-time. I have worked remotely from home. I have worked with babies, with children, and I can say from my point of view, that working nine to five and being a mom, there is absolutely no comparison as to which is more demanding and more difficult since becoming a mom. It's the single most hardest role I've ever done in my life. But that being said, it is the single most rewarding job I wouldn't change anything for anything in the world. There is no reward, like seeing how much your child looks up to you and loves you and sees you as their whole entire world, their savior, their superhero, and that to me is the magic of being a mom. And Yes, a lot that we do and a lot that we carry goes unseen. Unseen pressures. Pressures to do it all. I think as moms, we really do put a lot of pressure on ourselves, and that's something else that we're gonna delve into in these podcast episodes because I know for myself I've always felt like it's easier if I do everything. It's quicker, if I do everything And maybe you feel like that too, but I will unravel and teach you through these podcasts that motherhood doesn't have to be like that. And in fact. What I've found from my motherhood journey that that's not even the most effective way to do motherhood, Kids thrive on helping a responsibility and doing things, and whilst we're always striving for perfection, there is another way and an easier way, and I'm gonna teach you all of this in coming episodes. You don't have to take everything on your shoulders. So if you are listening to this right now, thinking, yes, that's me. I do that, I feel like that, then you are in exactly the right place because I am gonna break motherhood down for you. We are gonna go on this journey together, and I am gonna show you the magic of motherhood if you feel like you've lost it or you can't see it within yourself. Because sometimes as moms we can feel so unseen and so undervalued, and it can make the magic feel like it's gone. I remember that motherhood is an unpaid role, but it's not a worthless role. It is an unpaid role, but it's not small. It is an unpaid role, but you are certainly not replaceable in this role. Your worth isn't measured by productivity or how calm your house is, or how well behaved your children may appear. Remember, you didn't lose yourself when you became a mom. You expanded. You didn't know the strength that you have. You didn't know that you had resilience, that you didn't apply for. You are doing something absolutely extraordinary, even when it feels ordinary to you. So I want you to have a think as you are listening to this podcast. Who were you before Motherhood? What has motherhood revealed about you? What strengths have surprised you that you didn't realize that you had? it's so important that you remember that you are enough. You are doing so much more than you realize. And your children. I always say this, your children, they don't need perfection. In fact, that's exactly what they don't need. All they need is you exactly as you are. And I do realize that in motherhood you can feel the vast majority of motherhood. You can feel burnt out, you can feel overwhelmed, you can feel touched out, drained, numb. It's not all a positive experience all the time. Believe me, I know. I live in the real world and I have been there myself. And you cannot feel magical at all, but I want you to know that that does not mean the magic is gone. Magic can dim without disappearing. Seasons of survival doesn't erase love. Sometimes the magic of being a mom isn't about being joyful. It's about continuing anyway, when you don't feel joyful about showing up, when you feel tired, which is something I think we all do. It's about loving. Even when you are running on empty. And if you feel like the magic has faded, gone quiet or being buried in exhaustion, then the next episode is just for you because we're going to talk about what happens when motherhood feels heavy, and how to reconnect with yourself, how to find that magic again. So I hope to see you in the next episode where we continue on this motherhood journey together. Again, thank you for being here. Thank you for everything you do for your children, and thank you for being exactly the mom that your children need.
